Injury Report

Big Z out a Month

Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas could miss up to a month after suffering a small fracture when he twisted his left ankle last month. Ilgauskas sprained his ankle during a Dec. 10 game at Philadelphia. He missed only three games but has been bothered by pain and stiffness since returning. An MRI taken Friday revealed that Ilgauskas, who missed nearly two full seasons earlier in his career with foot problems, chipped the talus bone in his ankle. Anderson Vagejao will be a solid pick up for rebounds and blocks in Ilgauskas a bsense.

Breaking News

Krstic Signs with OKC

It appears that the earliest Nenad Krstic will be ready to play for the Thunder is next Friday against Houston or next Saturday against Chicago.  Krstic is likely to eventually take over the starting center job, he will be competing with Chris Wilcox and Nick Collison once he returns healthy. I would recommend picking up Krstic because before his knee injury he put up serviceable numbers as the starting center of the Nets. He will not put up the 16ppg and 7reb he did in Jersey, however 12ppg and 7reb and a block is not out of the question. He is worth a pick up.

Pick of The Week

Its the Anderson Show

With Big Z sidelined for a month with a ankle injury Anderson Varejeo will emerge as a must own in Fantasy league for a month. Although the Cavs play twice this week, he is still worth a pick up. Anderson Varejao scored a career-high 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting with eight rebounds, zero assists, and three steals on Friday. Although this will not be common stats for Varejeo going forward, it should be noted he can produce in several cats which will be scoring, rebounds,k steals and blocks.

NBA Trades

Mike James Going to Wizards

In a three-team trade to be announced later on Wednesday, the Wizards will acquire Grizzlies guard Javaris Crittenton and Hornets guard Mike James. The Hornets get Antonio Daniels from the Wizards and possibly a conditional draft pick. The Grizzlies benefit by getting back a conditional first-round pick from the Wizards. Washington will also release guard Dee Brown –who is currently starting– to clear enough roster space. Crittenton or James will likely emerge as the starting PG in Washington until Gilbert Arenas gets back, and is worth stashing on your bench.
